Being articulate is not the same thing as communicating. Communicating is understanding the mind of who you're talking to. - Neil Degrasse Tyson 18:34 - 18:41: www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0jLb9ooXgM
k buddy i tried in google chrome and the page wouldnt load. then i tried maxthon and the page loaded by the podcast wont start. tried internet explorer, no luck. firefox finally worked.
here comes some constructive criticism. know that i want you to succeed, and thats where im coming from 100%.
1. you have to start off with a bang to keep peoples attention. you cant start off with "its starting but none of us have our mics ready or anything", or a song that people may not want to listen through. the room was unenthusiastic and not taking it seriously. how do you expect your listeners to? prepare the first 5 minutes and grab us by the throat. make it so we cant NOT keep listening. originality and funny are the holy grails.
2. edit. youre asking us to take time out of our days to listen to you when we could be listening to a shitload of established ones namely duncans.
3. chicks. an intelligent chick who is a natural social magnet cant be underestimated.
4. nice leroy jenkins reference haha.
5. k i know you are passionate about current issues, but guess what... a lot of your listeners are familiar with these topics, and youre pretty much singing to the choir. so you have to take the time to dig to find the really good stuff people may not have heard of.
6. steer clear of individual sports teams.
7. the world is full of self admitted dysfunctionally interesting people. find them. some examples could be a woman who is about to have sex for money for the first time (hey i didnt say it would be easy, but people would tune in ok?), a homeless guy could share how he became that way and how social policies help/hinder him/her, maybe a mortician (younger female would be best), any emt in an urban environment, a meth addict, a former special operations vet... these are just off the top of my head, but they all beat 3 dudes sitting around talking like we all hear every day.
8. you need to have topics prepared and ready, with the freedom caveat to just run with whatever.
9. im 35, so maybe not your target demographic, but im usually a pretty good judge of the average taste out there.
10. take all the criticism here and pretend i just added 10 compliments for going to the trouble to make a podcast with your friends and airing it out there. props and continued success.
k last shot... i hear a lot of talk that is just repeating other people's popular opinions. gotta have guests with their own unique version/perception of reality and the gift of language to convey it. hard to find.

Truthfully and honestly thank you man...the feedback is greatly appreciated were are very new to this and are very much so in the learning proccess...everyones gotta start somewhere I guess :) but we have some stuff to learn and these types of comments help in every way...and about the podcast not working someone else told me it only worked in Firefox...in too sure about that problem yet...but again thank you very much
no prob. you guys seem like good dudes. what podcasts do you guys listen to?

a bunch man...joe rogan, penn jillette, alex jones...and many more it was just ment to be fun untill we had a great turn out over the past couple months...so like i said were still learning and hopefully we will climb higher and higher...and again thank you for the comment
come on duncan board... someone step up and provide this man with another opinion. dont let his only input be from the likes of me for gods sakes!
i know, someone skip to the 2nd third portion of the show and critique on it for a view of that portion, then someone take the last third. if something pops out, which it very well might, then more people will check it out.
luck. im not sure which kind im wishing you yet. ha.

Lol ya man were new at producing these were still in the "learning" stage but that is what we'll start doing...it's not as much desperate as much as its kinda gettin the ball rolling to see where we can go with this, I know where ur comin from lol...and thanks for the conment...all the advice helps ;)
@TomButler i skimmed through breifly...i definetly need to get deeper into your podcast i think its very interesting. the soundcloud is what got me, ive been heavily involved in music since i was a kid which makes me want to get deeper into your ideas...and as the gardening end...we talk about gardening in our podcast, we elaberate on a few interesting ideas when it comes to gardening ...we will defently have to give you a shout out our next episode man
Hey thanks, I was just editing my comment so that it didn't bring down your thread, I was actually telling people to listen to your cast but thanks so much for checking out my stuff, it's all avail for free download and your more than welcome to play anything on your cast or whatever.
Sorry if I came off douchey before, I understand the perils of self promotion as well
douchey????...not at all dude...trust me. thanks for the support man...and im gunna have to talk about you a little bit when we record our next episode this week....just because alot of what i read is really intresting and pertains to us as to how heavily we are into music...and caertain ideas that we talk about about when it comes to gardening and growing our own food. we will elaberate more on that subject the next episdode...when i throw you a shout out lol!!
syracuse ny, we try for 1-2 a week, weve just kinda been on the DL the last couple weeks lol but were putting one up this week. we just recently started a fan page also... http://www.facebook.com/PodCastToThePeople. but thanks for listening man
sweet man. mortuary school student would be cool. death is not discussed enough. ive never seen a dead body and cant really in this society unless related. we need to abandon our fear of death, and i think morticians know this, and can share really cool experiences.

some people forget death is just a part of life and the fear overcomes there mind because television and radio tell you to think death is terrifying from a young age
NEW PODCAST LADIES AND GENTS OF DUNCANS FAMILY...a new podcast has been uploaded by myself (dave) joe and chris titled its all a fig newton of our imagination...bringing up few fun and controversial topics everyone listen and enjoy...if using firefox libsyn is fine any other browser use itunes link @TomButler
Pretty good podcast so far. My opinion would be to work on your vocabulary it seems like when you guys get stuck you throw out a "fucking" or "shit '. I do the same thing and people will take you more serious when you replace shit with the actual word. I think it just comes in time with speaking

Maybe you can listen to the finished uncut podcast, then go back and research the opinions you were unsure about. Then re do it will real solid information. Just an opinion. I know its hard to recreate the magic of a live unscripted podcast, but your facts will mean much more to the audience. Also don't you hate it when redban pulls some shit out of his ass then he gets called out on it and it's totally wrong.

lol ya man i know what u mean...were slowing learning because this is the first time we have done this...but as we produce each episode we talk about it and discuss exactly what we did wrong and what we need to fix, and listeners like yourself imputing advice to us helps a great deal too lol
Yeah its a pretty fun podcast at least you're doing it, I'm too afraid to make a podcast because I know it would come out too rogan.
do it. or you will regret it forever. there are worse things in the world than being too rogan
what if rogan thought he would be too carolla?
btw I started a podcast. partially inspired by @powertothepodcast Mad man ranting. the link is in my signature
I gave yall a shoutout in episode 2. but yeah, keep up the good work. I agree with @antibot somewhat, but not everyone can be correct all the time. maybe just have google handy.
