Redban Appreciation Thread?
  • I'm with you, Nyhus I don't know what the hell happened, I don't really want to know all the gory details, and I don't think there's a right and a wrong in the situation but there were a lot of bad things done on all sides. I hope everyone can get over it and be ok again because in my past I have seen that sort of thing destroy relationships. I appreciate all of Brian's work and it has facilitated me learning about so many people I would not have known about otherwise.

Some of you guys seem to forget that there is an actual human being youre talking about. A person with feelings. How is it okay to say some of the stuff youre saying? There is a real possibility that Redban will read some of this shit. He is obviously an emotional guy, and this is neither what he needs, nor deserves. Yes, he seems to be a strange person, but he also seems to be a pretty good dude.
Also, this is the "Redban appreciation thread", not the "Lets all note all of redbans shortcomings!"-thread. What do you people get out of shit talking about him? Cause you see, writing it all in a grammatically correct, "as a matter of fact"-way doesnt change the nature of this. Its shit talking.
You people are actually complaining about a guy that ensures you get the free podcast you want, yet you paint him as a humongous jackass.

I might never understand this forum. Until this incident between two people, it seemed like a hangout for positive, intelligent and awesome dudes/dudettes(is that even a word?). Yet the second some kind of intrigue pops up, some of you go amok. What the fuck guys?

Agree with you for the most part, but don't forget that it's just a handful of people all over this redban drama compared to the rest of the forum, so don't get discouraged. And this will pass. Whether we admit to it or not, we all sort of like drama, the key is to not let it go too far.

Really, I've just been reading all this redban drama shit to curb my anticipation for the next DTFH...

All he has to do is at least make an effort to say what song he plays in intros. Is that too much to ask?

I don't think there's a problem here. People sharing their opinion about who was right or wrong over something, it just so happens that it is the same people we're here for.

It will happen. It's the same as wanting people not to download music or movies, people will talk. The way of the internet is, if you don't wanna take part, you can always look away and close the page. I don't believe this forum is any less positive or intelligent because of this discussion. It seems to me you're dealing in absolutes.

And only a Sith deals in absolutes.
I will do what I must.

  • while I'm sure mistakes were made on both sides, I Just want to make one point: don't make false idols out of anyone you hear on podcasts. There are no sides, no winners, no losers. There are just people trying to entertain us. No human (especially in the entertainment industry) deserves to be worshiped. I love Dunc, Joe, Brian, etc but you're not doing yourself any favors by putting them on a pedestal.

Let's just put this thing to bed, friends. It's exactly the opposite of the sort of energy I want to put into the world which is why I am choosing to ignore it.

It's May Day. We're supposed to be at forest orgies celebrating the emergence of spring not playing ping pong with shit balls.

But I do love you guys, and I appreciate your support.
  • You got it, Duncan. I think we've had our fun.
  • @magickchaoscobra
Redban is a little fucked in the head like MrAgileBeast said. But, he brings the funny every now and then and runs the technical side of the podcast. Cut the dude some slack. He's got a stressful life that I couldn't do.

Also, it's hilarious how you call him a vampire, but you went on to type up 4 paragraphs worth of text on the guy. If he bothers you that badly, just ignore the shit he says, or start taking his comments in jest. You, like Redban, are inviting negativity into your life by getting worked up over something you could just avoid.

I'm afraid you drastically misinterpreted my post. I'm hardly worked up (lol), and I'm assuming the general negativity of the overall situation caused you to perceive my post through a distorted lens.

In my quest to further understand humanity in general, I was posing a question to further understand why someone that I perceive to be negative and vampiric is showered in positivity? I was hoping for an actual answer besides "he occasionally brings the lulz."

I then followed that up with a quick summary of why I perceive him to be negative and vampiric (quick for me...I type very fast and am very long-winded), and my perceived conclusion. It's important to note that I do hope for his best development in the end, but the realist in me sees it as a great challenge.

I'm not looking to rally a mob to go after Redban. That's just silly. Conversely, I greatly respect the collective group of this forum, and there are many here that see the guy in a positive light. I'm trying to understand their perspective versus my perspective in an ultimate goal of pursuing truth. No ego. Just a veritable exchange of notes, if you will.

If you think that's a vampiric and negative quest on my part, I don't know what to say.

I must have misinterpreted the tone of what you wrote then. Sorry for that. It just sounded like you were shitting all over Redban and taking sides om this whole thing.

God damn. I feel like a kid whose parents are divorcing.

  • Hey Duncan. I just wanna say that I really appreciate the respectable way in which you dealt with the rift with Redban on your latest podcast.
  • It is the celebration of Beltane that shall bring these men together again.

The forest is where they find each other. The fire is what compels them. Their feet leap together in artful synchronicity, licked by flames. The bounding of this fire is the first step in the process of reunion, renewal and rebirth.

"Duncan," a low tone speaks purposefully across the flames.

    "My liege?"

"Beltane finds us together at what would otherwise be bad timing. If you would touch me..."

The anatomy of Leonidas himself would cower in fear at the physiques of these men -- musclebound, veiny flesh-freaks -- bursting through their tunics, a confetti of cloth showering the ground, Beltane's
flames glisten in the sweat-drenched chests of these titans.

Their union would be shared orgasmically. Thoughts of Sorrow Harbor swept away in the magnitude of Beltane's grace -- money mismanaged, talent exploited, patience yielding to the wild flames of a heart
fueled by anger. All gone, in synchronized, gooey eruptions of viscous semen, fountains for what seems like an eternity from their redwood-like growths, pumped by the other titan's grasp.

Exhausted, panting, they would catch their breath -- the ritual complete, Gaia's blessing bestowed.

"My liege... I would apologize. For it was the heart of anger speaking."

He is interrupted by his companion's caress,

"I will hold you, and our hearts, renew."
  • I LOVE REDBAN! I LOVE REDBAN! I LOVE REDBAN! Haters, GTFO! I'm tempted to start a Redban-Love-Crew to go around squashing this negativity people get away with while raping you for your hard work an creativity. His best jokes go totally under the radar while I'm sitting here laughing my ass off. I was so sad to hear about the beef, but I feel good knowing it will can be over soon, and the Cat Stevens made me feel great about this and other things in my life.

Redban, trust me man, I can feel how hard you work from here and it sucks when they get their teeth into you. I love the IHC podcasts so much and I think Redban does a great job running these. My favorite times are when Joe isn't in the room and Redban gets to host. (Only love for Joe, I just think Redban is a different podcaster when he isn't around, and I like seeing both sides.)

My poor ass would jump off a building for a little entertainment if I didn't have the podcasts. Thank you Redban. Thank you Duncan.

  • BRAVO to REDBAN for RELEASING the podcast after duncan asked him not to!! Duncan handled his apology pretty well on the "Emil" podcast...He did not "name" the "friend" that he "yelled at" but it seemed obvious that it was Redban...I am about to listen to Bonezone #17 (not sure if that is the one). Probably shouldn't waste my time. I SUPPORT REDBAN 100% and I definitely get where Duncan is coming from. I wonder if Redban was on Aderol during the fight...

Are you guys looking for the podcast that sparked the initial fight?

From my understanding, it was not a deathsquad podcast, it was some podcast in ATL with a comedy club there. . .

I don't think it was released.

By the way. . . redban absolutely melted down on twitter after obviously listening to DTFH. He needs to grow up. I agree that you don't have to immediately forgive someone if you feel wronged. But he shouldn't have gone on twitter. It seems especially ironic because redban's hissy fits are a result of him thinking Duncan made a private conversation public. Yet, Redban cries all over twitter all the time?

It's cool though. . . I love ya Redban, just cleanse some of the negative things out of your life, hire a maid, let Joe get you an assistant, accept friends' apologies, and keep doing your thing.

Some people just don't like to hear positivity thrown back at them when they're angry. Hopefully he'll get over it soon.

It's unfortunate, though, to hear one person refer to their relationship as a friendship, while the other feels hurt "after all I've done for him". I'm sure we've all been in these types of situations at one point. It's difficult to ever develop into a true friendship if the other person only sees it as being transactional.
  • After the hypocrisy of reichle going after Duncan on twitter after he got so butt hurt when he thought Jay mohr was doin the same thing I unfollowed him on the tweeter

Do people actually enjoy Redban? If so, it has to be rooted in some instinctual, maternal sense that some of us are wired with a lot more than others that involves keeping outsiders in the pack because numbers equal greater safety, right? I'm not trying to be an ass. I actually don't understand the positive consideration outside of these terms.

He's not actually funny, nice, intelligent or interesting. In fact, he rarely has respect for the JRE conversations and often hijacks them in order to address an absolutely mundane life event or nonsensical observation that is immediately dismissed by Rogan and guest. This is consistently childish, vampiric action, and it's rooted in his strongly ego-based clinging onto Joe.

He's got a very obvious yet difficult mental feedback loop that he has to address. Basically, it's this--he's obviously intimidated by the quantity of hilarious and/or interesting guests Rogan has on the podcast on a regular basis (who wouldn't be?). This makes him uncomfortable, and this insecurity is compounded when Joe is particularly engaged with a guest. On an emotional, ego-based level, he, too, wants this level of attention from Joe, so he interrupts/interjects in desperation. Unfortunately, what he's actually doing is sabotaging the very aspect of the podcast that makes it interesting--a free-flowing conversation between interesting people--by stifling the flow and by doing so with something uninteresting. Yet, he continues to do this despite all of the negative feedback and the usual obvious negative response given from guests.

Given how generally illogical, emotional and hard-headed he is, it would take a lot of deprogramming to fix this. It's probably more realistic to relegate him to the fringes of society with the "Did you just get out of the shower?" people.

You'd like for the guy to grow and figure it out, but he's 37...and it's getting worse.

I don't think anyone could put it better. I have respect for what Redban does but recently we have seen his true colors. This says it all.

  • Wow wah wee wahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!

It took me SO FUCKING LONG to find the source of this debate. Christ!

Anyway....I gave "Redban" (not his REAL name) credit, but it was the Adderrall. And as someone who runs a podcast, it's NOT that hard. How fucking dare him complain about ANYTHING. He would be an un-employed NOBODY if it weren't for Joe Rogan. And I grew to kinda like him, see that he throws things in to fuck up conversations he finds boring.

Rogan should keep him as a friend but get Redban an asst OR tell him that "Hey, guess what? Where would you be without ME?, bro?" Rogan is too humble though. Duncan was way too humble. Call bullshit for what it is, and Brian saying "Fuck Duncan Trussell" repeatedly just unleased a swarm of chaos that's gonna hit him hard. Hmmmm....reminds me of a COKEHEAD (which, make no mistake IS Adderall. So he was being an over-confident prick. Unless this is all a trick, soap opera to get us all upset, but I don't think so.

Redban does seriously need to say that to Duncan's face and see what happens. Let them box it out. Who wouldn't pay $50 to see that fight? Redban was SO outta line. Ari knew it, Joe knew it. And I love the quote above from Joey Diaz.

Basically Redban is a Vampire, if an artist comes down to perform then they should be compensated equally, even if it's five bucks. It's a traditional exchange. Plus you don't have to worry about gas, etc. Redban is MORE than profiting off these shows. What exactly does he do? Even Don Immera (sp?) hated him. I'm starting to think there might be something to that.

Joe is just too damn generous to not even fire him, just push him aside, hire me. His position is of such honor and he typifies the LA hipster that is so lazy and unknowledgeable about any topic Rogan brings up. He's a child and ACTS like one, THAT's IT! Plus now he's on Adderrall and that is a slippery slope indeed. I bet its from his hooker girlfriend (Or whore? I forget which). And being a pornstar is being a prostitute, I'm sorry. Jenna Jameson's argument about "we don't enjoy it" is bullshit. That industry is lead by some REALLY DARK DARK DARK people man. And so, he can go evaporate. I'm no longer going to follow him on Twitter. D was WAY too nice to him, he needs to go away man, or see the light on the way to Damascus..

He's not worth even this time consumption of mine or anyone's. He should apologize. And you know what? If you heard him he said "not ONCE have I been on his podcast! WAHHHHH" and, "It's not about money...FUCK THAT only $150 fucking dollars plus a door fee." Hypocrite. Baby. No wisdom. Little knowledge. Where would he be without Rogan? Rogan would've still had a podcast, so would have Duncan. Why is Brian even around? I'm stopping because I wanna talk about Emil Amos, who was FANTASTIC this time! I'll be in that thread.

I wanna see where he and Redban had to be separated by Joe. Anyone got that Where and when?

It seems to me that you're making a lot of presuppositions based on information that you are clearly not privy to. Correct me if I'm wrong, but honestly, I'm pretty sure I'm not. You seem so against what he did, but really how much actual facts do you know? Both of them lost their temper and said things they didn't mean to say. I'm not saying redban is in the right, but he does claim to compensate entertainers as is possible with the money he makes. I really doubt you have enough information to confirm or disprove this statement, and neither do I! That's the point. You're starting from a place of almost no actual information, and deciding you hate this person and screw everything they do. I think that's a terrible way to operate. Add this to your heavy handed judgement of another person you don't know(his "whore" girlfriend), including calling her offensive names because you don't agree with her lifestyle. Maybe you need the road to Damascus experience. Unconditional love. Have you even been listening to the podcast?

It made me laugh too! Dom Irera is brilliant, especially on Dr Katz. I often wonder how he is perceived by comedians (this isn't necessarily indicative of the wider comedic community, but it seems an astute observation).

  • @KurtVonnegut how do you know I'm not "privy to information?" What information other than hearing Brian say "Fuck Duncan Trussell" 5x, AND Duncan's intro and the Atlanta thing, and the whole history of Deathsquad and the JRE do I need to know to see that he's a twat who thinks like a child approaching 40? He has good video editing skills, and I give him credit WHEN IT'S DUE.

I'll spend my energy elsewhere as this "rift" in the Forums where people are actually Truthful about who they are and don't tale the name (could be Copyright Infringement, his son is notoriously litigous) of a great dead author from my area who used to own a Saab dealership, back when they were stroke engines instead of showing their own face.

Who's not privy to what information? You're certainly not Kurt Vonnegut, so Im not taking YOU seriously. You don't know what information I'm privy to, which highlights your deepening hypocrisy.

@Steve. How is it "needlessly hurtful and plain stupid" the EXACT same thing you do when you call my words stupid?

Anyone that floats on here under here anonymously is a hypocrite. But yeah, that WAS mean, I hear ya. And so what? "Lets be positive" Fuck that....in a sense. If someone is acting like a douche especially to my buddy Duncan (who is TOTALLY right btw) on adderrall, thinking about which finger he's gonna stick up his ass, then yeah, I'm gonna call it for what it is.

Maybe the "Pornstars Liking It" could be it's own thread, but, speaking of being PRIVY TO INFORMATION, I know a major distributor of the most hardcore things. He used to shoot in Downtown LA upstairs from me and put ads for "models," but forgot to tell them about the face-fucking. And you know what he told me? There's a thing called a whoregasm, where a girl starts crying after orgasming on camera because "it's for the money, we don't enjoy it" as if prositiutes enjoy it.

But yeah it was off topic and mean. Sorry. It's about fucking time. And I was on @redban 's side for a while.

But let's go back to ne postive and pretend that we shouldn't call people out on their BS and live in that bubble. Let's just let them say stupid, hypocritical things, which make no logical sense and let lies pollute the sacred airwaves.

Like Emil was getting at, the transition isn't going to happen without some blood being spilled.

  • @Kurt Vonnegut

yes I've heard the podcast from it's inception and if it's my "lifestyle choice" to kill and eat a baby, would that be okay? "Hey man, it's just a lifestyle choice.." yeah and so was Ted Bundy. That was a lifestyle choice.

I'm privy to as much information as I can gather from comedian friends in LA, pornstar friends in LA, etc.. Lots of fucking ppl hate Redban. Have YOU ever listened to Dom, or Joey Diaz (in last JRE) go OFF on him? And yes I know his argument, I watched it. So don't assume I don't know things, you snide logically hypocritical, hide-behind-a-dead-author's-name-cause-I'm-ashamed-of-who-I-am little Internet freak. You don't know shit. And you're not authentic.

People like him because Joe Rogan likes him. Redban won some sort of Karmic lottery, and now everyone feels the need to defend him because Rogan does. I am not ashamed to say i have turned off several JRE podcasts (which i love) because i couldn't handle anymore Redban. The easiest solution, because of the Rogan loyalty factor(admirable) is to just let him produce and keep him off air. Wishful thinking and hoping on my part, but fuck it, i said it.

  • @mysterybuddha I'd have to say I agree with you there. I've been avoiding the Redban thing because of the "if you have nothing positive to say, don't say anything" mantra.

I've always wondered what Joe saw in him. There's the video thing, but I could throw a rock into a tree and 5 video editors as good as him would fall out.

Go right now and look up your favorite JRE clip on YouTube. I can almost guarantee Redban will be sitting on the end doing nothing and won't say a word. Read the comments and there is often one that reads something like, "great clip, but what does the dude on the end do?"

You're right about the karmic lottery man. He should wake up every morning and pinch himself. It's an honor to be in the company he keeps...not a right.

  • @Steve. How is it "needlessly hurtful and plain stupid" the EXACT same thing you do when you call my words stupid?

I didn't call you stupid, i called the hateful words you chose, needlessly hateful and stupid.

You're judging his girlfriend based on her profession, and assuming that she's a whore or a bad person... that's a douchey move imo.

    That's all i'm saying.

Let's not attack each other guys. It is pointless to get into an argument.

We are on this forum because we are cool people... we have shared interests and are like-minded. It doesn't do any good to attack each other and cause divisions in our ranks.

It's been said before but this is a Redban Appreciation Thread. So lets appreciate or not contribute to the thread at all.

in that vein.. I like redbans beanie here.
