Some of you guys seem to forget that there is an actual human being youre talking about. A person with feelings. How is it okay to say some of the stuff youre saying? There is a real possibility that Redban will read some of this shit. He is obviously an emotional guy, and this is neither what he needs, nor deserves. Yes, he seems to be a strange person, but he also seems to be a pretty good dude.
Also, this is the "Redban appreciation thread", not the "Lets all note all of redbans shortcomings!"-thread. What do you people get out of shit talking about him? Cause you see, writing it all in a grammatically correct, "as a matter of fact"-way doesnt change the nature of this. Its shit talking.

Agree with you for the most part, but don't forget that it's just a handful of people all over this redban drama compared to the rest of the forum, so don't get discouraged. And this will pass. Whether we admit to it or not, we all sort of like drama, the key is to not let it go too far.
Really, I've just been reading all this redban drama shit to curb my anticipation for the next DTFH...

I don't think there's a problem here. People sharing their opinion about who was right or wrong over something, it just so happens that it is the same people we're here for.
It will happen. It's the same as wanting people not to download music or movies, people will talk. The way of the internet is, if you don't wanna take part, you can always look away and close the page. I don't believe this forum is any less positive or intelligent because of this discussion. It seems to me you're dealing in absolutes.

while I'm sure mistakes were made on both sides, I Just want to make one point: don't make false idols out of anyone you hear on podcasts. There are no sides, no winners, no losers. There are just people trying to entertain us. No human (especially in the entertainment industry) deserves to be worshiped. I love Dunc, Joe, Brian, etc but you're not doing yourself any favors by putting them on a pedestal.

In my quest to further understand humanity in general, I was posing a question to further understand why someone that I perceive to be negative and vampiric is showered in positivity? I was hoping for an actual answer besides "he occasionally brings the lulz."
I then followed that up with a quick summary of why I perceive him to be negative and vampiric (quick for me...I type very fast and am very long-winded), and my perceived conclusion. It's important to note that I do hope for his best development in the end, but the realist in me sees it as a great challenge.
I'm not looking to rally a mob to go after Redban. That's just silly. Conversely, I greatly respect the collective group of this forum, and there are many here that see the guy in a positive light. I'm trying to understand their perspective versus my perspective in an ultimate goal of pursuing truth. No ego. Just a veritable exchange of notes, if you will.

Redban, trust me man, I can feel how hard you work from here and it sucks when they get their teeth into you. I love the IHC podcasts so much and I think Redban does a great job running these. My favorite times are when Joe isn't in the room and Redban gets to host. (Only love for Joe, I just think Redban is a different podcaster when he isn't around, and I like seeing both sides.)

Some people just don't like to hear positivity thrown back at them when they're angry. Hopefully he'll get over it soon.
It's unfortunate, though, to hear one person refer to their relationship as a friendship, while the other feels hurt "after all I've done for him". I'm sure we've all been in these types of situations at one point. It's difficult to ever develop into a true friendship if the other person only sees it as being transactional. -

In fact, he rarely has respect for the JRE conversations and often hijacks them in order to address an absolutely mundane life event or nonsensical observation that is immediately dismissed by Rogan and guest. He's got a very obvious yet difficult mental feedback loop that he has to address. This makes him uncomfortable, and this insecurity is compounded when Joe is particularly engaged with a guest. On an emotional, ego-based level, he, too, wants this level of attention from Joe, so he interrupts/interjects in desperation. Unfortunately, what he's actually doing is sabotaging the very aspect of the podcast that makes it interesting--a free-flowing conversation between interesting people--by stifling the flow and by doing so with something uninteresting. Yet, he continues to do this despite all of the negative feedback and the usual obvious negative response given from guests.
Given how generally illogical, emotional and hard-headed he is, it would take a lot of deprogramming to fix this. It's probably more realistic to relegate him to the fringes of society with the "Did you just get out of the shower?" people.
You'd like for the guy to grow and figure it out, but he's 37...and it's getting worse.

It seems to me that you're making a lot of presuppositions based on information that you are clearly not privy to. Correct me if I'm wrong, but honestly, I'm pretty sure I'm not. You seem so against what he did, but really how much actual facts do you know? Both of them lost their temper and said things they didn't mean to say. In fact, he rarely has respect for the JRE conversations and often hijacks them in order to address an absolutely mundane life event or nonsensical observation that is immediately dismissed by Rogan and guest. This is consistently childish, vampiric action, and it's rooted in his strongly ego-based clinging onto Joe.
He's got a very obvious yet difficult mental feedback loop that he has to address. Basically, it's this--he's obviously intimidated by the quantity of hilarious and/or interesting guests Rogan has on the podcast on a regular basis (who wouldn't be?). This makes him uncomfortable, and this insecurity is compounded when Joe is particularly engaged with a guest. On an emotional, ego-based level, he, too, wants this level of attention from Joe, so he interrupts/interjects in desperation. Unfortunately, what he's actually doing is sabotaging the very aspect of the podcast that makes it interesting--a free-flowing conversation between interesting people--by stifling the flow and by doing so with something uninteresting. Yet, he continues to do this despite all of the negative feedback and the usual obvious negative response given from guests.
Given how generally illogical, emotional and hard-headed he is, it would take a lot of deprogramming to fix this. It's probably more realistic to relegate him to the fringes of society with the "Did you just get out of the shower?" people.
You'd like for the guy to grow and figure it out, but he's 37...and it's getting worse.
People like him because Joe Rogan likes him. Redban won some sort of Karmic lottery, and now everyone feels the need to defend him because Rogan does. I am not ashamed to say i have turned off several JRE podcasts (which i love) because i couldn't handle anymore Redban. The easiest solution, because of the Rogan loyalty factor(admirable) is to just let him produce and keep him off air. Wishful thinking and hoping on my part, but fuck it, i said it.

@mysterybuddha I'd have to say I agree with you there. I've been avoiding the Redban thing because of the "if you have nothing positive to say, don't say anything" mantra.
I've always wondered what Joe saw in him. There's the video thing, but I could throw a rock into a tree and 5 video editors as good as him would fall out.
Go right now and look up your favorite JRE clip on YouTube. I can almost guarantee Redban will be sitting on the end doing nothing and won't say a word. Read the comments and there is often one that reads something like, "great clip, but what does the dude on the end do?"
