There I met mr Trussell whom enjoyed toying with us outcast, I owned him for a short time and developed a single sided friendship those were good times I miss Johnnyredbone and Hedlund]

Removed from my original dwelling drifting across the interweb I fall here.
Only to Rise 1nce more Please enjoy my stay

First thread here was this

http://duncantrussell.com/forum/discussion/4293/power-of-music#Item_25

and before that there was a Equidistant's on http://www.joerogan.net/ forum

I would like to apologize for the 1 or 2 repost within this new thread

All right to start off. Waking up.. I'm grateful to wake up but the moment of reentry is often of naseau and groginess . I sleep weekdays between 3-7 am give or take a hour less sleep wake up 40 mins later.
The point is its not much. On weekends I get up around 12-1 and usually stay awake later. I look at my phone set sleep timer and repeat than actually get up around 7:15 I let my dog Melo out and set up my Keurig I

prefer to use special blends and manually fill a single serving for myself. Dunkin Donuts or Folgiers classic. I also have a nice Hawaiian blend I got at the Hotel the night before leaving 100% kona bean.
I let the dog in. Get myself washed and dressed push the brew button. Go to my bed kiss my gf goodbye and roll a joint or grab a roach clip. Grab several drinks usually gatorade or a redbull.
I than get in the car and pull out the driveway make 2 rights than a third to enter LIE service road. I take this 5 exits and merge. I take this a half mile before another merge. These merges are usually kosher and a

general understanding of what and who goes applys without effort. Now that I'm on 111rt is when all previous curteous behavior is lost and everyone aggressively attempts lane changes without caution. Leading

to many accidents and a overall slower progression than normal. Upon reaching my next turn I grab my joint and spark it up switching sports talk radio to Dubstep mp3s
Once a month or so I have a cop behind me and I ninja grab my ozeum neutralizing all pot odors.. I have yet to be pulled over but why risk it... not smoking the weed until after the firehouse is the safer option but by

this point I feel comfortable.
I arrive at my bosses house. Put out the weed grab my stuff and get in the van. Usually we stop at this horrible bagel store. They don't serve Bacon. I almost never get Bacon, but the lack of the option puts me off.
The same spanish woman I've seen for years asks me can I help you? I say plain bagel light on the butter. Everytime without fail the bagel is buttered to a sog. Spite perhaps? No I think not, I know this because of

how she counts change. Slow and inaccutately that is... So this place is my best option. The only other place we stop is Dunkin Donuts and I refuse to give them my business outside of buying the fucking beans at

the supermarket. I ordered 2 @1.39 to go breakfest wraps. I say no meal I have my own coffee. She says 7:98. The cost of 2 meals. I explain all your giving me is 2 togo wraps. and she says yea 7.98
I explain again look at the menu its listed price is 1.39 making the price with tax 3.01 . Mind you I d do this instantly she doesn't understand and I say please let me speak to someone else. She was white btw
the person she gets is this spanishy/turkish looking guy. He says to me the price is 7.98. I say now in a elevated aggressive tone look at your Menu the middle 1 two down to go wrap. 1.39.
I have 2 of them thats 2.78 plus tax 3.01. Count with me here do you see how it equals 3 $ I gave him three dollars and took my food not knowing if he comprehended. That was the fimal straw for that place.
We than travel west to rich areas of the island. Than clean windows of some rich person who asks the same obvious things usually. Is that noise coming from your phone? Is it T V? I say no its a podcast or its

sports radio. Than they say oh its a radio... than I say no.. its my phone using your internet...
After 1 house we go to lunch. Than do the next job. Day job...

Night Job

\\ I'm here to change the world //

Another unknown prophet

The night was sleepless and this morning brings chilling winds the precurser to the noreaster. I have been lucky to have electricity and adequate food, many among me were not as well prepared.
Gas lines run a half mile at the few locations gas can be found Army humvees underneath overpassses. Still I remain unfazed as if this whole incident is just some crap I see on TV like Japanese tidal waves.
This is home and I marvel that more looting and murder has not risen from the dark streets. Perhaps the chemtrails are making us more docile with each arial pass. I wonder to myself as I write this
something completely different. I'm worse. Yes I am in fact worse than my 2 brothers who made no attempt to contact me during the worse parts of the storm. I did not call them to see if they were ok all though
I did have the thought I wonder if they are ok? I could have called to confirm... instead I think fuck them, they don't give a thought about me. While this is accurate they had no thoughts of me. Can you blame

something on absense. Its far worse to intentionally not give a fuck. Much like my smoking cigarettes. Like a drill my spiritual link activates condescending as a Scumbag brain meme with similar clever taunts.
No one knows I'm a prophet I keep fucking telling you all... (Either I'm Crazy or Trollin is the expected response) I do it knowing none believe it. I'm not the only prophet I'm just among the worst that you have not

known. Being a prophet is a lot like flying south for the winter Its a internal compass moral and all that jazz. It tells you the truth and you don't need to like it.. It just shovels it down your throat like your a pedophile in GP. It compells you do the 'right thing' I can override it and do nothing and I can even do the wrong thing. If I do nothing or I do the wrong thing karma wise its the same negative.

Anxiety night sweats gasping for air nightmares it just snow balls. To be rewarded I must do the option of selfless help strange thats the only way to help myself... Its hard to do it I mean really hard to do it
when I encounter users and manipulators whom think they can just prey on people. Trying to reason with people like that is near impossible and I have such little patience when I understand so naturally and the other just refuse to see it.
I get too easily frusterated when someone who is so wrong and confidant engages me in conversation.

One thing that's always fascinated me is thinking about the future of music. Making music is pretty much my life, so I can't help but notice and be interested in the evolution of popular music during the last century. Each decade cast a certain aesthetic over anything made during that time. It's really cool to follow the unbroken chain of musical evolution to see how everything from social movements to technology influences how music is made.

Unfortunately, there's hardly anything out there about the future of music. There's plenty of books and websites that ponder the future of the music...industry, but almost never the future of music itself. But, think about it. Could someone in 1968 have predicted...dubstep? Could someone in 1983 have predicted early 90s alternative music? Could someone in 1920 have predicted Prince or Marilyn Manson?

There's a tendency for people to sort of assume that the future of culture will be pretty much the same as it is today, but history shows that to be completely false. Every generation assumes it's the apex...that there's nothing truly new under the sun and surely things won't change THAT much. But, they always do.

Since the 50s, technology more than anything else, has driven the creative process of writing a song. Over the past decade, the affordability and availability of home-studio and sampler technology has breathed fresh life into a sort of electronic DIY approach to music. Bands like Animal Collective or Yeasayer are the direct result of that technological evolution. The past 7 years has, imo, been a musical creativity boom on par with anything that happened in the late 60s or early 90s. But, what now?

Personally, that question drives my own music writing and recording. I want to write something both timeless...and something that sounds like it came from 2013 or 2014. So, what will that sound like? It's hard to tell...but chances are, popular music will still exist in 2020 or 2050 even. I'm thrilled to see how music will evolve...and I highly doubt I'll be some cantankerous old person who can't understand the kid's music. I always love it when I see some guy in his 70s dancing to some electro rave music or something. It's inspiring to see that.

Anyway, I think music will, as sampling and wave-editing technology get's better, start to incorporate a wider range of sounds, textures, rhythms, and all the rest. Imagine recording a morning dove bird call, running it through a device that syncs the sample up to the poly-rhythm of a vocoded waterfall and recording acoustic guitar over that with a beat that's half drum-machine and half djimbe. Obviously, such a song could be made now...but as kids grow who grew up with this technology get older, we'll start to see the Jimi Hendrix of our era...albeit utilizing much different tools.

I do have one idea..or prediction..as to how music may be made in the future. I think the social network revolution(that's really only 5 years old) will change things a lot. Imagine a website where musicians have a profile. Then, let's say a musician wants to write a song. So, they make a page for their yet-to-be written song...describing how they want it to sound, their inspirations, etc. The person would then post a backing track of some sort. It might be them singing over a metronome...or playing guitar...or something. It might even be a few tracks.

Then, other members would have the opportunity to contribute their own tracks, if the song is something they're interested in being a part of. Maybe the original poster needs someone to contribute a bass part, synths on the chorus, and drums. So, users who can do all that, would post their submissions. Then, the original poster could listen to each submission and accept or deny them. Maybe 3 people submitted bass parts...each totally different since neither heard the other.

Then, when the original person makes their choices, the song is mixed on the spot and is put up for the community at large to listen to. Then, this community could even rank songs...and you could search through all songs by rank. So, you would still have a Billboard-esque top 100 list. You could even have several lists...by genre or country etc.

It might sound somewhat artificial...but in practice, I think it would result in mountains of incredibly creative music. Imagine a synth player in Jordan writing with a drummer in Australia a vocalist in the US and a guitar player in France. Such a network could link up people who, if they ever met, would be the best band on Earth. Maybe bands would even develop over time as people found others they fit well with. Then that band could actually get together one day and play live.

Idk...I have a strong feeling this will actually happen. I just can't imagine it not. Too bad I don't have the skill to whip up such a website...because whoever does will become quite rich. :\

Hey guys,

Long time listener, first time poster. I'm trying to make a Spotify playlist of all the songs at the end of each episode, but I haven't been able to find a list anywhere. I'm slowly compiling a list myself, but if anyone feels like being amazing and providing any end of episode songs and which episode it's from, that'd be tremendous, dawg (read that in mad flavor's voice).

Even if it's just a single episode as you listen to it, every one posted here is one less that I have to manually find.

Alternately, if anyone knows of a list of this sort, that'd be beautiful.

I'll be sure to update with the playlist as soon as it's respectable so everyone can enjoy it. Thanks in advance!

This is a place for the DTFH members who can appreciate Black Metal music(Norwegian or otherwise). Duncan mistakenly called it "Norwegian Death Metal" on a podcast once, but an honest mistake. The origin of Norwegian Black Metal is simply a punk rock style rebellion against LoonLoon and everything he represents(also followers of Odin would paint their bodies black and fight at night, thus corpsepaint). These rebellious musicians resorted to murder, arson and music that was way faster than was reasonable to most metal fans. It included lyrics about nature, existentialism, nihilism and anti-conformity. It also included Neo-Pagan themes about the death and hypocrisy of LoonLoon and the virtue and majesty of the Nordic Gods(i.e. Thor,Odin,Freya, etc. as well as LoonLoon's arch nemesis Satan). Hail Black Metal and Fuck LoonLoon(his music generally sucks anyways)! Here's some videos of each era of Black Metal to get us started.

The drummer for my band: is always about 2 hours late to rehearsal, never answers texts, is frequently drunk/buzzed when he shows up, always owes me money, can't give constructive criticism or take it, and is reluctant to give any creative input. I kind of put up with it because we've been friends for a long time.

Anyways, I just figured he didn't want be a part of the project, which I'd be fine with. However, when I asked him if it was something he was motivated to do and enjoyed, he got borderline defensive and emphatically stated that it is. Last week he missed rehearsal because he injured his hip in a fall off his bike. He didn't tell us until 45 minutes after we started, even though he had fallen 2 days before.
I said thanks for the head's up... all he had to do was let one of us know in the two days. And he changed the subject to how I didn't ask if he was ok, and what a dick I am for not asking (I honestly thought it was some bullshit excuse, but I guess he really did fall). He employs this tactic a lot though, creating a non sequitur argument to derail a different confrontation... it's this weird, adolescent defense mechanism. I know that he drinks a lot, and I'm wondering, is this something that alcoholics do? He's a very emotionally sensitive person, I think maybe suffering from some kind of emotional trauma. My frustration is kind of keeping me from getting a clear picture of what's going on. I'm not sure how to communicate effectively with him, or figure out if his behavior is a sign of some kind of abuse and cyclical, in which case we probably couldn't pursue anything further with him. Any thoughts?

I figure there are quite a few smokers and metal heads on here by some of the posts i've read. This thread is for the slow and heavy. I had been on a steady diet of black and death metal for years until i finally started hearing more doom and it kind of broke me out into something new. I hope you guys enjoy! Let me know what you're listening too!

Electric Wizard: This shit is ultra heavy.
I'm bummin' pretty hard over this one. Slayer and Anthrax were the first two speed/thrash bands that I really got into when I was like 9-10 years old in the late 80s. I had a neighbor who was always giving me tapes to listen to, one day he gave me South of Heaven, it was all over from there.

A couple years later I saw them for the first time on the Clash of the Titans tour in '91, it was during Slayer at that show that I tried to get into a mosh pit for the first time. I instantly realized I was way too young and small to be running around with the big kids. I've had the fortune to see Slayer 8 times over the years. Definitely a band that had a major impact on me over the years. I'm gonna miss Jeff's unique guitar solos from the depths of hell.

It's a long and twisted tale. You will undoubtedly hear from the government if you pursue this matter too publicly. The CIA has representatives who monitor this topic, especially on the Grateful Dead newsgroup, where the truth of the hoax was first exposed. One guy you will probably hear from is a guy named Ken F., who will attempt to convince you that what really happened that night was just a completely normal show, and that nothing out of the ordinary occurred. But it isn't so. The REAL story behind the CIA experiment that night is well known, to many of us. We don't talk about it a lot, but the tale has been told on RMGD by a Navy Midshipman who participated in the experiment, so I will reprint it. The *REAL* setlist used to generate the recording is below, and the reasons for the experiment is described beneath the setlist.

***********************************
BARTON HALL, ITHACA, NY 5/8/77 -- The Show That Never Happened"

Track listing | Actual Source
--------------- | ------------------
1.Minglewood Blues [4:47] | Winterland 3/20/77
2.Loser [7:30] | Springfield 4/23/77
3.El Paso [4:22] | Chicago 5/13/77
4.They Love Each Other [6:59] | Lakeland 5/21/77
5.Jack Straw [6:00] | Tempe 10/6/77
6.Deal [5:43] | St. Paul 5/11/77
7.Lazy Lightnin' [3:29] > 8.Supplication [4:21] | St. Louis 5/15/77
9.Brown-Eyed Women [5:12] | Winterland 6/8/77
10.Mama Tried [2:37] | Seattle 9/29/77
11.Row Jimmy [10:52] | Fox, Atlanta 5/19/77
12.Dancin' in the Streets [15:43] | Pembroke Pines 5/22/77 (DP3)

Set II:

13.Scarlet Begonias [9:14] > | ???
14.Fire on the Mountain [15:21] | ???
15.Estimated Prophet [8:32] | Passaic NJ 4/27/77
16.St. Stephen [4:43] > | Mostly Passaic NJ 6/18/76
17.Not Fade Away [16:22] > | with some tricky splicing of the
18.St. Stephen [1:53] > | middle of an unidentified NFA
19.Morning Dew [13:36] | Cow Palace 12/31/76
20.One More Saturday Night [4:54] | Springfield 4/23/77

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh yes, this is nice.

Big fan of the wedidit collective, and Sholohmo in particular.

D33J is really interesting to watch live, would love to go see this guy somewhere.

Here is some info on the guy

In the hands of producer Djavan Santos, a.k.a. D33J, what should be computer-quantized or staid is given light and life. Aquatic textures overlap with bedroom clicks, muffled vocals & vacuous guitar to form hazy late night jams with just enough rhythm for a syrup-drenched dancefloor. Colors change over the course of a song — cool blues melt to hearthy reds — and melodies wind their way through shifting textures while new forms are created at every turn. Though D33J is a solo sound technician, his sound is variegated. It is lush and large and it is alive.

Of course, the 22-year-old’s pedigree demands as much. Los Angeles born and bred, D33J attended the city’s prestigious yet public Hamilton High alongside Anticon’s Baths, OFWGKTA’s Syd the Kid, the FIDLAR boys, and Friends of Friends bit-bender Groundislava. While there, he studied both guitar and electronic music, and caught friends’ shows afterhours when he wasn’t experimenting with software at home.

When D33J moved north to study experimental audio and visual design at the San Francisco Art Institute, he was initiated into the Wedidit mafia (via Shlohmo, Ryan Hemsworth, RL Grime), with whom he nurtured a strongly weirdo cult lifestyle and further developed his unique approach to crafting instrument-infused, R&B-touched bedroom techno.

D33J recently returned to L.A. to claim his rightful place among the city’s vital noise-makers. While he continues to seed the Wedidit BlogSpot with bold R3MIX3S — see clutch reinventions of Brandy, Sigur Rós, and Drake — Anticon is giving his Tide Songs EP the debut it deserves. The five tracks contained therein offer an inventive, brightly budding intro to an artist who’s only just begun to blow the eff up himself.

May I present Empathy Tape III:

We wash up on an unfamiliar shore, the cool water lapping at our feet. We enter the lush jungle looking for help, for civilization. It's beautiful and full of life. We're reminded of our ties with nature. We are nature, but nature lives as much as it dies. Terrorized by The Loon, we shamble on to find a village of people. They welcome us with open arms and tend to our wounds. The people take their time and see the value of each moment, yet we can't quite settle in. We can't let go of the life we left behind, the life that's waiting. We're guided back to the beach by the people and give them our thanks. We reenter the water, hoping to return home.

Download

Asuka Sakai - Overture II
MGMT - Siberian Breaks (Ed Banger All Stars Remix)
I Come to Shanghai - Moose, Indian / The Loon
The Books - The Lemon of Pink pt. 1
People Get Ready - Middle Name
Beach Boys - Surf's Up
Au Revoir Simone - Through The Backyards

if you like this, you can stop by my ad & revenue free blog, Empathy Tank, or on Facebook here

Hope you enjoy!
